- There were no children named Elizabeth Leonard recorded as having been born in Massachusetts in either 1777 or 1778. Either her birth was not recorded or Leonard was a married name. Still, there may be some clues.
The first child of Solomon and Elizabeth was named Williams. Note the "s." There was a Williams Leonard in Tauton. There's no birth record for Williams Leonard, but there is a death record which says he was 45 years of age when he died in 1815, which would give a birth year around 1770. There is also a record of a marriage between Williams Leonard and Sarah Garey/Gary in 1791. It would not be possible for Williams and Sarah to have been Elizabeth's parents, but it could be reasonable to think that Williams was her elder brother.
According to a DAR Lineage book, the parents of Williams Leonard were Nathaniel Leonard and Mary Williams. I have information that they had seven children, but I have not yet been able to find a list of those children.
